OUR STORY

How we started

Hope Alliance is a registered and tax deductible charity in Australia established by Phil and Jodi Tweed.

Phil and Jodi have been traveling to Nepal since 2003 and over the years have met some amazing people.

The defining moment came in 2006 when a good friend, Peter Dalglish, introduced Phil and Jodi to a Buddhist school operating in Boudha Kathmandu. They spent that morning teaching about music, singing and engaging with many bright young students.

At one point, tsome of the girls asked Jodi if she could sing a song for them, not knowing a lot songs, Jodi asked if it would be alright to sing a song from church and sang Mighty to Save – Savior he can move the mountains. Many students and staff were very moved by the song, and it was that moment that Phil and Jodi knew their hearts would be forever connected to Nepal.

After this initial meeting, Phil and Jodi grew to know some amazing young people who shared about their village and families in the remote Manaslu region and their heart to see a school and a culture of education established there – and the rest is history, from that point on we have been working side by side with our Nepali family to do ‘on the ground’ work in education, health, hygiene and emergency aid across the Nubri valley and in the City.
